In keeping with our design philosophy, the interior renovation of Estes/Twombly's office is simple and straightforward. The original space, built in 1933 as a Baptist church, had been chopped up for later use as a bicycle repair shop. By removing a divider wall, the original large single room was reclaimed. Areas needing privacy are free-floating rooms within the space, unattached to the original walls. The conference room is wrapped in translucent panels for light transmission and the kitchen / storage room is enclosed with plywood for privacy. North facing skylights and a large window in the conference area fill the room with softened daylight. The modern detailing of the new work is a counter-point to the preserved moldings and wainscoting.
